Real Bride Stories - Lynette
20th January, 2023Lynette came to us wanting something glamorous yet bridal for her big moment on the stunning Greek island of Santorini, set against the backdrop of the glittering sea. There was only one dress that was going to do that job...
How did you feel about the prospect of wedding dress shopping?
Excited! I couldn’t wait to try lots of beautiful dresses on!
How did Rachel Ash make you feel special?
Aimee and the team were amazing. The one dress I’d seen online as something I’d really like to try on was the same dress Aimee had picked out for me based on the information I’d sent over about my vision and the wedding. I really wanted to explore something that was more red carpet and untraditional but still bridal and I came out with the perfect dress.
What were your favourite parts of the wedding dress shopping experience?
I found my dress on the first visit and it was the first dress so the trying on part was really smooth for me. The part I loved the most, however, was coming back for my fittings and watching as my dress got closer and closer to the final vision!
How did you choose your dress? What made you fall in love with it?
It’s really true when people say you have a ‘feeling’. I tried on the dress I chose first of all but couldn’t really believe it would be that simple! So I tried on lots of other options before going back to that first dress and, when I tried it on again with the veil, I got goosebumps everywhere. I loved how simple and elegant it was but covered in hundreds of gorgeous sparkles which glittered as soon as the sunshine hit it.
Did you have any alterations made to the dress to make it more bespoke? What was this process like?
I lowered the mesh neckline a couple of inches as personally I just don’t really suit a neckline that cuts across my chest. My seamstress also suggested cutting the underskirt to floor length so that the top layer of my dress could fully fan out behind me and it was a brilliant suggestion!
What advice would you give to other brides about to start their dress buying journey?
Be open minded and trust your consultants and seamstress! I think it really helped that I had a vision but was not set on a very specific style too.
Is there anything else you feel other brides should know about what they can expect from Rachel Ash?
Complete professionalism, always so friendly and helpful and a joy to go through this process with.
